How to avoid boredom and still enjoy late summer and fall!

While a lot of plans are cancelled due to Covid, we have compiled a list of outdoor activities that are still going on! Grab a friend or family member and try out one of these ideas for a fun outing:

Feeling stir crazy sitting around at home? Go for a hike

Why we love it: Hikes ranging in all levels of difficulty and intensity are a great way to get outside and get some exercise while taking in the scenery. We have compiled a few of our favorites in the area:

Westchester: Rockefeller State Park Preserve, Cranberry Lake Preserve, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Stone Barns

Rockland: Kennedy-Dells County Park, Tallman Mountain State Park, Bear Mountain, Harriman State Park

Looking to expand your restaurant list? Check out a cute town

Why we love it: There are so many nice towns in driving range that are worth a day trip. While you're there, check out outdoor restaurants, coffee shops, nature trails, and any water views. Here are some of our favs (ranging from closest to furthest from NYC):

Tarrytown, Nyack, Cold Spring, Beacon, New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Saratoga Springs

Interested in healthy eating? Go fruit and vegetable picking

Why we love it: So many farms are offering an array of fruit and vegetable picking right now. The great news is that it's seasonal, so you can go back again and again for new options! Here are some that we recommend (ranging from closest to furthest from NYC):

Dr. Davie's Farm, Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard, Wilkens Fruit & Firm Farm, Lawrence Farm, Barton Orchards

Dreaming of the ocean? Try out a boat rental

Why we love it: Kayaking is a great way to get some exercise while also enjoying the view. Here's what we recommend:

Hudson River Recreation, Mountain Valley Guides, SoundWaters Kayak & Paddle Board Rentals, Sea Kayak Connecticut
