With constant lost luggage and airline delays, an easy fix to minimize your travel stress is skipping the checked bag! We travel on 2+ week trips with only carry-on size suitcases, and here’s how to do it:
1) Laundry service for essentials - most hotels offer this - it can be a bit pricey, so just washing a few essentials (think, only the socks/underwear/t-shirts you absolutely need) will help you out.
2) Only pack one pair of lightweight shoes – pack flip flops/sandals/etc. and wear the other bulkier set (boots if traveling in the winter, or sneakers in the summer) on the plane.
3) Plan your outfits in advance – make sure each top and bottom can be worn together, that way there’s no extra clothing that sits in your suitcase unworn.
4) Pack minimal toiletries – pack travel-sized skincare, make-up, and other products. Plus, most hotels offer extra toothbrushes or toothpaste if you need, and you can buy other things you need (such as sunscreen) once you’re at your destination.
5) Re-wear your evening clothes – if you have dinners out but only wear a pair of pants or a dress for a couple hours, it likely can be worn again later in the trip!
